Engineering student | Likes Tinkering, New Projects, Motorsports

A Mechanical Engineering student in Taylor's University who has a keen interest and passion for motorsports. I have participated in Taylor's Racing Team, Taylor's University's Formula SAE team which allowed me to learn engineering skills such as CAE designing and FAE simulations. Throughout my course in Taylor's University I was able to gain a lot of experience through Taylor's Project Based learning education.

My mission statement as an engineer is to improve the lives of modern society through the innovations and technologies in the engineering field. I wish to achieve this through knowledge and experiences gained through working with my peers and colleagues.
About me image

Strengths

  • Enthusiastic about new projects
  • Quick learner for modern IT tools
  • Adaptable to changing environments
  • Familiar with hands on tool

Opportunities

  • Increase need in the understanding of IT tools due to the cononavirus and work from home orders provide a benefit for those that are tech savvy
  • Increased netuadling reach due to involvement in cocurricular activities  such as sponsors from the racing team.

Weakness

  • Short attention span
  • Easily judgemental
  • Insufficient team leading skills
  • Lacking work experience
  • Lacking self-confidence

Threats

  • The could-19 pandemic as well as the emergence of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) has caused the jobs market to be hyper competitive.
  • Rapid advancement of technology means a constant catch-up is needed to stay up -to-date to current.
The Malaysian Engineering Programme Accreditation Manual (EPAM 2007) published by EAC indicates eleven (11) key outcomes an engineering student is expected to attain upon graduation. These outcomes are also defined by Programme Outcomes (PO). The eleven POs are listed as below:

  1. Engineering Knowledge
  2. Problem Analysis
  3. Design/Development of Solutions
  4. Investigation
  5. Modern Tool Usage
  6. The Engineer and Society
  7. Environment and Sustainability
  8. Ethics
  9. Individual and Teamwork
  10. Communication
  11. Project Management
  12. Life-long Learning
Looking at the PO attainment table and the spider web plot, the lowest PO attained are PO1, PO4, PO7 and PO10. These are Engineering Knowledge, Investigation, Environment and Sustainability, and Communication. To improve on these POs, I will need to be more strict on my work during projects. Lack of attention to detail has caused me to not look into things in greater detail. To improve on PO 7, constant questioning and consideration for environmental, social, economical sustainability should be in place to ensure the project is feasible. For PO 10, proper discussion and meeting times set will help improve communication with team members.

In the contrary, the highest PO attained are PO2 and PO5. These are Problem Analysis and Modern Tool Usage.

Solidworks

Solidworks have been the go-to software that I have been using to do CAE design works as it is the program that is being thought in Taylor's University.; Throughout my studies, I have done multiple designs, and assemblies for simple and complex projects.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

While designing an air intake system for Taylor's Racing Team, I learned the fundamentals of setting up and solving CFD simulations to

Computer Aided Engineering and Design

Throughout my studies in Taylor's Engineering, I have been using Solidworks to design components and system for projects for classes as well as personal projects. Besides Solidworks, I have also been using Powermill and Fusion 360 for Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM).

Graphic Designing

During the pandemic lockdown, I have learned to use image manipulation software to create liveries for vehicles in sim racing. Presently have experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, GIMP, Inkscape, Autodesk Sketchbook.

Formula SAE (FSAE) Air Intake

Formula SAE (FSAE) Air Intake

The goal for this project was to design a FSAE air intake optimized for a 2006 Yamaha R6 engine that was used by Taylor's Racing Team. FSAE is a student design competition organized by SAE International that allow engineering students from universities to design and manufacture an open cockpit style race car. FSAE has set rules and regulations to ensure that student participating in the event produce a safe car to reduce injuries and accidents.

Personal Film Development Tank

Personal Film Development Tank

This project was done as my team realize that there was a gap in the market for a personal film development. This comes from the rising popularity of film photography in recent times and film development may be a very high cost when starting out in this hobby.

Autonomous Coconut De-shelling Machine

Autonomous Coconut De-shelling Machine

This project was done in collaboration with Kapar Coconut. Coconut de-shelling is a very dangerous process as the process requires the worker to hold the coconut while running gears and sharp wedges are nearby to de-shell the coconut. The autonomous coconut de-shelling machine project tries to design and manufacture a prototype that can de-shell a coconut automatically effectively.
