PO Attainment: 4/5
This programme outcome (PO) is attained through the module engineering Design and ergonomics. For this module, my team had designed and built a prototype for an ergonomic food trolley. For this project, my team identified the need of a ergonomic food trolley in food courts as tight seating conditions causes strain and difficulty in lifting food trays off of trolleys. An ergonomic food trolley is designed to solve this challenge by introducing a height adjustable tray holder while also have the trolley foldable to reduce the footprint of the trolley when not in use.
This PO is also attained through the module mechanical Engineering Group project. For this module, my team had designed and built a prototype for an autonomous coconut de-shelling machine. This prototype was designed to reduce the risk of injuries of workers when de-shelling a coconut. This project considers the safety of the workers, and the environmental impacts. Workers will distance their hands from the machine to reduce injuries and possible food contamination due to the injuries sustained from the de-shelling process. The machine is made of metals so it will be easily recyclable, and the material used for this project do not emit any harmful chemicals.
